  Validation
A while back I scribbled some questions I had about Novell and its approach to Linux. But I'm just a lil sysadmin. So it was kinda validating tonight to read ex-Novell exec Matt Asay's post on the differences between Red Hat and Novell.
Red Hat has never wavered from a core understanding that the low-hanging fruit is Unix... there's still truckloads of money to be made in converting Unix to Linux, with fewer barriers to doing so... I think Novell still does itself a disservice by focusing more on Microsoft and Windows than the Unix market, but this is changing. It's just hard for the company to give up on its eons-old battle with Redmond...
I admittedly cut out a lot of of context here, so go read the comparison for yourself. Matt's blog is great in general. He's got a very conservative, pragmatic, but enthusiastic perspective on open source business models.

probably a little too much
